1. Brokers usually offer two types of investment accounts: Share Dealing and Stocks & Shares ISA. Using these account you can buy shares, funds, bonds, etc..
2. When buying or selling an investment you'll be charged a one-off 'dealing fee'.
3. Brokers may also charge a yearly percentage of your investment value (this is common when investing in funds). Note that this is an EXTRA cost on top of the Fund Manager fee aka ongoing charges figures (OCF) which you should check in the Fund Factsheet before you commit.
